Man-portable detector battery life in sub-zero conditions
Our handheld detectors lose roughly a third of their runtime once the temperature drops below zero. The electronics are fine; the packs are the problem.
What are people doing for a full night shift? Insulated pouches, rotating spares, or a belt pack with a chemical warmer?

Insulated pouch plus two rotating spares got us through a shift. Warm the spares inside your jacket, not in the pack.
Do you see any condensation damage when they come back into a warm room?
Only when we powered them on immediately. Let them reach room temperature first and it is fine.
We standardised on one pack chemistry across all handhelds so spares are interchangeable. The logistics win is bigger than the runtime win.
